Two weeks on, we couldn't resist a final look back at our wonderful Year 12 Graduation Mass and Ceremony! A day filled with pride, performances, and heartfelt goodbyes. 🎓

Graduation Day on Tuesday 23rd September was filled with great memories and heartfelt goodbyes as we celebrated the Class of 2025. The day commenced with a beautiful Graduation Mass led by Fr Wim and attended by the entire school, uniting our community in thanksgiving for our seniors and their remarkable Patrician journey. After Mass, our younger students formed a Guard of Honour as the Year 12 students prepared for their final departure. As Year 12 students reached the school gates, they were farewelled with a powerful haka performance from our Year 11 Pasifika students. This moment symbolised the passing of the torch and highlighted the deep bonds of brotherhood that characterise our school. The celebration continued into the evening at our Graduation Ceremony, a special event for our seniors and their families. Introduced with dance and song by our Indigenous students in a spectacular Welcome to Country, the evening included stirring speeches from our student leaders, brilliant musical performances, the presentation of Year 12 report portfolios, academic awards and special awards - and ended with a special blessing bestowed upon the graduating students by the staff and parents. We are immensely proud of the wonderful achievements of this Year 12 group and look forward to seeing the amazing paths they will forge in the future. Congratulations, Class of 2025!

As part of our Faith in Action program at Patrician Brothers' College Blacktown, we have had a long-standing partnership with the Vinnies Van program. This program enables our senior students and teachers to give back to the community by dedicating their time outside school hours to serve meals, beverages, and essential items to people in need. We want to extend our thanks to the students and staff who have stepped up so generously throughout the year to make a difference, and we look forward to continuing this initiative with Vinnies Van into 2026.

In an effort to engage with our wider community, this term some of our Year 12 students took part in blood donations with Lifeblood Australia. As part of a school volunteer team, these young men became first-time donors, answering an ongoing demand for blood in Australia. We are incredibly proud of their willingness to help save lives through this initiative, and we encourage you all to donate if you are able to. A special thank you to our Student Leadership team, along with Ms Mercieca for organising this initiative.

Keebra Park SHS 20 Patrician Brothers' Blacktown 12 Not exactly the result we had hoped for - but what a wonderful day for our Patties community. Despite going down to Keebra Park State High School in the NRL National Schoolboy Cup Final, our team has once again demonstrated excellence, resilience, and pride throughout the season. This year our team: Reached the National Final for the second consecutive year. Successfully defended the NSW State Final - known as the Peter Mulholland Cup (2024 and 2025 Champions). Reached the NSW State Final for the third consecutive year. A special thank you to Mr Meares, Mr G Beacroft, Mr Tramontana, Mr Chapman, Mr Niulesa and Mr Saleh for their dedication, guidance and tireless efforts in preparing the team to perform at the highest level. The College is extremely proud of our players, coaching staff and support team for their remarkable achievements in 2025. Bring on 2026.

Bishop of Parramatta Award for Student Excellence. We are thrilled to announce that our School Captain, Zackary Armitage, has received the prestigious Bishop of Parramatta Award for Student Excellence! This award recognises Year 12 students for their witness to the Catholic faith and contributions to the school community. As College Captain, Zackary has approached all situations with humility, compassion and care. Zackary’s efforts included volunteering his time to numerous social justice initiatives and extra-curricular activities in the school. Accompanying him at the award ceremony was Jeziah Fauula-Vaa in Year 11, who read the citation for Zackary. Jeziah was selected for his leadership qualities and dedication to the school. Thank you to CSPD for organising this event and to Mr. Anthony Pope for his valuable presence.

Last week we tested the sales and promotional skills of our Year 9 Commerce students with our Commerce Trade Show. Our young entrepreneurs organised and planned a small business venture that focused on selling and promoting a product or service to our target school market. The students thoroughly enjoyed the event and reported afterwards that 'business is fun', 'I now feel more confident in selling and speaking' and 'I want to run my own business soon'. As a College community we are very proud of the initiative and enthusiasm of our boys and we wish them all the best in any business venture they choose in the future.

This week, we recognised RUOK Day at the College with a number of simple activities that highlighted the importance of looking out for the mental health of our mates. In our Student Wellbeing lesson activities, we encouraged the students to recognise the people they can trust and talk to in their lives. Reflective videos and stories at assembly and then each morning in Homeroom showed us the power of a simple conversation with a mate. Then on Thursday we had Bronut Day where we encouraged everyone to buy two donuts and share them with a mate - along with a conversation to see how they were going. The week culminated with teamwork and healthy competition in an epic Staff vs Student basketball game. This was a powerful week dedicated to reminding everyone that we're a community that looks out for each other and that brotherhood can be real and practical. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped out! And let's keep asking, RUOK?

Last week our school celebrated NAIDOC Week with a range of fun and engaging activities. Highlights included: A scavenger hunt in the Resource Centre, exploring culture and history. Fierce and hotly-contested Knockout Tug of War competition for all year groups. And of course, the much-anticipated Staff vs Students Oztag game, where the students once again claimed victory. A big thank you to everyone who got involved in celebrating and showing respect for the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, especially to Ms Plumridge who went above and beyond to make sure the week was a great success. This event has become one of the highlights of our annual calendar.
