Who is eligible to apply?
Year 12 students at a CSPD school who:
- Are planning to apply for a Bachelor of Education (Primary or Secondary) at any Australian university, commencing in 2024
- Can provide a recommendation from a year level coordinator, Principal, Assistant Principal or REC from their current school

Bishop of Parramatta recognises student excellence
Each year, one Year 12 student in every Catholic secondary school in the Diocese of Parramatta is awarded the Bishop of Parramatta Award for Student Excellence. This prestigious award is nominated by the school principal and recognises a student’s witness to their Catholic faith and outstanding contribution to the school community in areas such as academic excellence, sporting achievement, creative and performing arts, social justice, vocational education and community involvement.

The Australian Schools Invitational Water Polo Championships were held from Wed July 31 to Friday 2 August at Cranbrook School Aquatic Centre. Among the students representing NSWCCC was our very own August Cyreszko, who was selected into the opens team at just 15 years of age! August and his team played over three days with NSWCCC coming 4th after being defeated by NSWCHS 14-8, while Queensland All Schools took home the gold. Being selected to represent any NSWCCC team is no easy feat so we as a College community are incredibly proud of August for this achievement, and as he is still only in Year 9 we certainly look forward to celebrating several more years of these successes in the pool!

The College held a College Assembly this morning where special guests, Br. Aengus Kavanagh and Old Boy, Mr. Matthew Turner, launched the annual Delany Foundation Appeal. This appeal raises much needed funds for charitable works in Australia and overseas.

Cross Country Success On Wednesday 24th July, we had two students compete in the NSW All Schools Championships. Representing NSWCCC, Xavier Zahra (Year 7) and Bernie Irvine (Year 7) both had excellent runs around the challenging Equestrian Centre Course. Bernie (U/12) finished in 7th place which is a phenomenal effort, making him the 7th fastest 3km Cross Country Runner in NSW. Zavier (U/13) continued his outstanding season, doing a 5 second PB, covering the 3km course in 9 minutes 55 seconds, placing 3rd, a mere 4 seconds behind the winner. Zavier's efforts have seen him selected into the NSW All Schools Team that will compete at the School Sport Australia Championships in August. Congratulations are in order for both young men, who are not only fine athletes, but fine students who represent their College with pride.

The best U15/16 footballers from across Australia, including 8 teams from NSW, converged in Wollongong last week for the National Youth Championships 2024 Boys. Our very own Lucas Blazevic in Year 9 was selected in one of the four U/15s NSW sides. Lucas and his team were successful across the championships, beating QLD (White), Western Australia and Victoria (Silver) to top their group. Lucas' side then met up against NSW Metro (Sky) beating them 1-0 in a tightly contested quarter final match up. Unfortunately, Lucas and his side went down 3-0 to South Australia in the semi final of the championships, finishing third overall in the carnival. As a College community, we would like to congratulate Lucas on this achievement and will be wishing you all the best on your future footballing endeavours.

3 in 2023...4 in 2024! The Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League Championships wrapped up today with NSWCCC putting on a dominant display, defeating NSWCHS 40-12, with 8 Patties boys now nlNational Champions! After being named the College with the most Australian Schoolboys in the last decade in 2023, our boys have outdone themselves again, with a record equalling four boys from the College named in the 2024 side. A huge congratulations to all four Patties boys, which includes Jacob Halangahu who returns for a second year, this time round to be joined by Lachlan Coinakis, Jared Haywood and Tyson Sangalang! We, as a College community, are incredibly proud of each of you and can't wait to watch you pull on the green and gold come October! #onceapattiesboyalwaysapattiesboy

During Week 9 of Term 2, our Year 11 Retail Services students were given the opportunity to gain firsthand experience of the retail world. Each of the students completed 35 hours of work placement in their selected retail store, as part of undertaking their Certificate III in Retail Services. The students were able to work alongside experienced staff members, under the supervision of their respective team leaders and store managers in some of Australia’s most reputable retail stores. Congratulations to each of the students on their efforts during their week of work placement.

The U18s Australian Secondary Schoolboys Rugby League Championships kicked off today, where the best schoolboy rugby league players in the country will compete in Coffs Harbour over the next week. NSWCCC are the defending champions and today notched a huge come from behind victory against QLD All Schools, clawing their way back from 26-12 down with just over 10mins remaining to defeat the QLD team 30-26 to start their campaign well and truly on track. Again the most well represented school at the Championships, Patties have 8 players in the NSWCCC team including our current Schoolboy Cup Co-captains Jake Halangahu & Jared Haywood, alongside CCC incumbents Lachlan Coinakis & Tyson Sangalang, as well as rising stars Jhett Sydir, Roman Tuaimau, AJ Johansson and Josiah Vahaakolo-Fifita! As a College community, we wish all of our Patties boys the best for the week ahead and look forward to tuning in all week to watch them show the country what they are capable of! #onceapattiesboyalwaysapattiesboy
