The Penrith Panthers' NRL Grand Final success owes much to the football factory that is Patrician Brothers College Blacktown. A sizable portion of the Premiership winning team hails from the CEDP school, renowned for turning schoolboys into superstars.
In this special report for 9 News, Patrician Brothers coach Greg Beecroft explains how players such as Stephen Crichton and Jerome Luai showed their talent at school and not just on the football field.
Greg also highlights how Spencer Leniu showed an impressive dedication to his learning alongside developing into an elite sportsman.

The Australian Schools Invitational Water Polo Championships were held from Wed July 31 to Friday 2 August at Cranbrook School Aquatic Centre. Among the students representing NSWCCC was our very own August Cyreszko, who was selected into the opens team at just 15 years of age! August and his team played over three days with NSWCCC coming 4th after being defeated by NSWCHS 14-8, while Queensland All Schools took home the gold. Being selected to represent any NSWCCC team is no easy feat so we as a College community are incredibly proud of August for this achievement, and as he is still only in Year 9 we certainly look forward to celebrating several more years of these successes in the pool!![730118859123600_1000121085456708-1]()

Churning out players for 15 of the NRL’s 17 clubs, Patrician Brothers’ College Blacktown and Westfields Sports High School in Fairfield West educated 52 players in the current competition, and their playing fields are teeming with future stars.

Commitment to Close the Gap clear for Western Sydney Catholic schools

Each year, one Year 12 student in every Catholic secondary school in the Diocese of Parramatta is awarded the Bishop of Parramatta Award for Student Excellence. This prestigious award is nominated by the school principal and recognises a student’s witness to their Catholic faith and outstanding contribution to the school community in areas such as academic excellence, sporting achievement, creative and performing arts, social justice, vocational education and community involvement.
